Meanwhile, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean…

… my high school classmate Burl Burlingame, who actually still has a newspaper job (30 years with the Honolulu Star-Bulletin), is taking note of our governor’s doings (and what I’ve been saying about them):

Fascinating Apathy

Written by Burl on July 10th, 2009

Brad Warthen may not be a classic good ol’ boy, but he’s a good ol’ Brad. Headlong in the blogging game after being riffed by South Carolina’s The State newspaper, he’s keeping us up to date on the resident weirdness of Gov. Mark Sanford. Naturally, The State never needed him more these days.
Yesterday, the folks who want Sanford to abdicate held a rally, and pretty much no one came. Now, we have our own governor who’s acting oddly — so much so it’s a topic of discussion — but Sanford is something else.
I don’t care that Sanford is having an affair. Even if he’s a complete hypocrite about it, having viciously chastised President Clinton in the past. These Type A politicians seem to always be having something on the side. President Kennedy was boinking a different bimbo every night, Wilbur Mills was bouncing stripper Fanne Fox, Grover Cleveland was busy siring little Clevelands elsewhere, and we all know who Thomas Jefferson was galloping.
Deal is, despite all the tut-tut, affairs are a fact of life. Sometimes they might even be necessary.
The ew-ew-ew thing about Sanford is not that he’s been thrown for a loop by his heart, but that, as far as affairs go, the guy is wildly incompetent. We want our leaders to be human beings, but we also want them to be smarter and more accomplished than we are. There are meth-addict doorway dwellers who poop in public who are more capable of keeping their affairs discreet than this governor.
Sanford is acting like he needs to be wearing a helmet and a leash. His mistress is in Argentina, for cripes sake. No one would have ever figured it out if he’d had a lick of smartness. The only thing the South Carolina legislature should be debating is whether they need road signs up in Columbia that say SLOW GOVERNOR AT PLAY.

To which I felt compelled to reply:

July 10, 2009 at 9:02 am

Hey, and Burl, don’t forget to tell your readers in Hawaii that ol’ Brad is a graduate of Radford High School, class of ’71.

One thing about our governor… yes, he’s incompetent. Those meth-addicts you mention would probably put forth a more credible effort at getting the Legislature to enact their agenda. But with this governor, that’s comforting to know.

There was a time when I was distressed that he was so incompetent, because it meant he not only wasn’t getting the GOOD things he advocated done — such as badly needed government restructuring — but he was so off-putting to lawmakers that he was actually setting those causes BACK several years.

But I’ve adjusted to that, and now take more comfort from the fact that he is just as bad at getting his BAD ideas acted upon — such as private school vouchers, and trying to turn down the stimulus money that we’d be paying for anyway.

Ya gotta look at the bright side.

And Burl, if I can ever help you out with your governor, just let me know…

Sure, it’s Mark Sanford’s “incompetence” that has put the state into the condition it is in.

I mean look at all the initiatives he has enacted and look how they have failed. I mean there’s school vouchers… of wait… no there aren’t. But what about the flat income tax. That was a failure. Oh, wait, that didn’t happen either. How about his desire to cut wasteful government spending? When the Legislature implemented that it just caused all sorts of problems. Oh, wait. That didn’t happen either.

I mean if the people of South Carolina had just understood how important it was for us to elect Tommy Moore, we’d have a low unemployment rate, excellent schools, and a booming economy. Right? That was your solution to the problem.

Harell and Leatherman. Those are the names you seem to fear. Sanford’s an easy target.

  2. Karen McLeod

If we had a competent govenor we might have gotten a workable government by now instead of one with little pockets of power, and no one claiming responsibility for anything (nor can they be held accountable with our system). Meanwhile, I’m thankful we didn’t get a tax that hurts the poor much more than it bothers the very rich, and I’m thankful that we didn’t manage to usher in separate but very unequal schooling again (which would be the result of school vouchers). I was mad at the Gov. for essentially “abandoning his position” for 5 days (or more), but now that I think about it, can we send him back?

  3. Lee Muller

I would like to hear those who blame Governor Sanford for everything describe exactly what compromises they think a “good governor” would have reached with the legislature, and how that would have solved all our State’s problems.

Name one legislative spending initiative which Sanford blocked.
Then explain how that hurt the state.

  4. Burl Burlingame

Hmmm. I think our governor needs a boyfriend. She’s looking pretty grim these days. But Brad’s married. Think Sanford is up for some gubernatorial cross-pollination? For the sake of the party, and all that. Just — for gawd’s sake! — spare us the details.
Now that Levi Johnston is back in the news, look at clips of him lounging with Bristol Palin at the Republican convention, and seated directly behind the teenage couple, the governor of Hawaii shooting daggers with her eyes.

  5. Lee Muller

You mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find a genuine, certified copy of the alleged birth certificate of Barack Obama, supposedly in the Hawaii Department of Health. Please provide all the supporting information, such as the hospital, attending physician, and witnesses who signed the papers for the Certificate of Live Birth.

    Your reward will be $12,500.

  6. Burl Burlingame

    Arrgh.
What the conspiracy loonies are looking for is NOT Obama’s birth certificate. That has already been provided. What you claim you need are BIRTH RECORDS. Two different things.
I had some maniac explain to me that the reason that Obama’s birth was listed in the Birth, Marriages, Deaths Vital Statistics section of both Honolulu papers in 1963 was “because the Kenyan Conspiracy secretly altered every microfilm roll in every public library and archive in Hawaii.”
If you don’t fall for that line of reasoning, then you’re part of the conspiracy.
Besides, we all know Obama’s birth records are locked up with Bush’s National Guard records.

  7. Lee Muller

In other words, you haven’t seen any proof of Obama’s citizenship, don’t know anyone who has, and don’t care.

So you make up a bunch of silliness that is supposed to divert attention from your lack of professional interest in the truth. Try it on your friends.

Bush’s National Guard records are not locked up, either. They were extensively examined by, and reported in, the Boston Globe, which found that he got an early out to matriculate at Harvard Business School because he was way over his drill hours for the year by June.

  8. SGMret

“Nanny, nanny, boo, boo… My governor’s dumber than your governor! No he’s not! My governor’s 10 times more dumber than your governor! Yea? Well, at least my governor’s dumber than a public-pooping meth addict!”

Jeeze…. You two are the reason there should be some rule against old high school buddies teaming up in public spaces. You’re acting like you’re still back in school passing notes about what a tramp Sally Sue is: “‘Cause you know, she dates the captain of the football team an’ when I asked her out she said she wouldn’t be caught dead being seen in public with a pocket-protector-flip-up-sunglasses-wearing geek! Yea, she’s a tramp alright….”

And you two want to criticize Mark’s Sanford’s incompetence? Talk about things that should be kept in private. You two should keep some of this (all of this?) to yourselves. It’s embarrassing, and I’m not talking about the Mark Sanford stuff.

  9. Burl Burlingame

Well, essentially, you get the politicians you vote for. Good luck with yours.

  10. Burl Burlingame

The thing about conspiracy nuts is that they’re never wrong. It’s just that reality gangs up on them.

Speaking of research, I did a simple Google of “Lee Muller” is see if this person had any standing whatsoever — and one of the top hits is a Hawaiian musician!

  11. Karen McLeod

Meanwhile I haven’t seen Lee’s birth certificate. He’s actually an alien from an unfriendly galaxy. Don’t believe records he shows you! They’ve altered the records. I want to see absolute proof otherwise, if I’m to accept him a human!

  12. bud

he not only wasn’t getting the GOOD things he advocated done — such as badly needed government restructuring — …
    -Brad

Ok, put up or shut up. Explain how the 1992 restructuring fiasco that you and The State ranted on about for a year helped make South Carolina a better place. Clearly it was a move in the direction that you’ve advocated yet you cannot cite one, not one benefit from that ridiculous farce. Here are three negatives that came out of it:

    1. Fewer troopers on the road and the SC traffic death rate soared.
    2. Computer upgrades at DMV delayed by at least 5 years.
    3. Hundreds, maybe thousands of employee moves at various agencies to accomodate 3 agencies (DPS, DMV, DOT) where one had previously existed (DHPT).

Facts are facts. The original restructuring bill was an expensive failure and any attempt to do it again would just cost the taxpayers millions. Let’s forget about this restructuring nonsense before the general assembly actually goes and does it. Re-arranging the deck chairs on the sinking state government ship of state will only make things worse.
Then again, it would stimulate the economy by increasing the moving business.

  13. Lee Muller

It’s not a theory that the media engages in conspiracies to elect and support incompetent politicians, Mr. Burlingame.

Your name-calling is no antidote for your failure to investigate the politicians you support.

bud, your holding blaming the DMV shortcomings on Mark Sanford is pathetic. The computer upgrades were put in place by leglslators under Hodges. They spent three times as much developing an drivers license system as it would have cost to buy one from a proven vendor, and it would have been implemented in 90 days instead of 90 months.

  14. bud

Huh? I didn’t blame Mark Sanford for anything. All I did was challenge Brad to explain how his pet project, the 1992 restructuring act, helped make SC a better place. He’s never done that and until he can he needs to just shut up about new restructuring.

  15. Lee Muller

My mistake. I was factoring in your other many complaints about governors and politicians meddling with your favorite bureaucracy.

I personally think it makes sense to separate the issuance of drivers and vehicle licenses from the building and maintenance of roads.

I agree with you on Brad and other faux reformers clamoring for this or that silver bullet “comprehensive reform” which will make the legislature honest and frugal:
    1. restructuring
    2. strong governor
    3. comprehensive tax reform
    4. strong mayor of Columbia
    5. etc ad nauseum.

It is all a stalling tactic to block genuine piecemeal reform of glaring corruption and inefficiency, and to block term limits and constitutional restrictions on spending and taxation.

  16. Brad Warthen

Hey, at least Lee’s paying attention.

And Sarge, you should at least give Burl (and to a lesser extent me) credit for consistency. He’s been rousing the rabble ever since high school. Back then, he published his own underground paper, in which he blasted our never-present principal, Mr. Yamamoto, as “the Ghost Who Walks.”

Hey, Burl, I sort of wish our governor would take a cue from Mr. Yamamoto, and make himself scarce…

  17. Burl Burlingame

I may not agree with our governor on many things, but I like her as a person.

That must be a conspiracy too.

  18. Karen McLeod

I do believe both the passport people and the US gov. (similar, but not exact) checked Pres. Obama’s birth certificate before they let him in or out of the country, much less allowed him to be sworn in as president (straight forward constitutional requirement). I also saw the press release that stated that his birth certificate had been checked and confirmed that he was born in the US. Haven’t seen or had any such confirmation about Lee. Meanwhile, our state government politicians are so busy squabbling with each other that little, if anything gets done. And meanwhile our most helpless receive less and less protection and assistance every day.

  19. SGMret

Brad, it wasn’t the rabble rousing (yours or Burl’s), per se, that was the problem for me. I just found the whole exchange childish. I mean, did you guys make “pooping the street” comments about the high school principal in your “underground” newspaper? If not, then it was one up maturity-wise over the above.

I’m sure you’re both better than this. (Actually, I know you are but can’t speak for your buddy, Burl.)

  20. Lee Muller

    Karen,
The followup by reporters to the press release on Obama found no one who had actually seen his alleged birth certificate. They had just been told there was one in the file that had been locked up.

If you went to get a passport, or a handgun permit, do think you could just say, “Take my word for it, here’s a press release that says I am a citizen.”

It has been my experience that when someone hires six lawyers to keep the press and Democratic Party officials from verifying their birth certificate, student visa, adoption papers, name change filing, and marriage license, they probably have something to hide. Intelligent people want to know. Voters have a right to know.

  21. Karen McLeod

Lee, To get a passport, which Pres. Obama has, one must present a passport. The news story I read, after reading several things questioning his passport said that it had been shown and verified. Also, I don’t think you could be sworn in as US president simply by claiming that you were a US citizen by birth. That Birth Certificate has been verified. I know you haven’t seen it, personally, but it has. Intelligent people know it.

  22. Santee

And Barack Obama’s much-debated birth record relates to Mark Sanford’s competence, or lack thereof, in what way? On that original topic — I have no confidence at all in Mark Sanford’s competence, but his recent behavior suggests more than incompetence. He has acted like someone who wanted to be caught, and has been very anxious to tell us about his affair, his feelings, and his appalling “C Street” theology. He needs competent professional help, in both clinical psychology and theology. If he turns out to be a slow learner even then, at least it will achieve the desirable goal of keeping him busy in a less destructive way.

  23. GayGrayGeek

Nor, Karen, is Lee concerned with “intelligence” since that word has too many syllables.

  24. Karen McLeod

Obviously, in my last post I should have used “Birth Certificate” instead of passport to explain what you have to produrce to get a passport. Also the news account verified Pres. Obama’s birth certificate. GGG and Burl, there are reasons I suspect that Lee may actually be an alien. You have named but two.

  25. normivey

The Supreme Court in December dismissed the birth certificate claims without comment. They didn’t have the minimum 4 justices who thought there was enough merit to the case to even hear the arguments.

  26. Burl Burlingame

These haters don’t want proof of citizenship. They want proof of non-citizenship, and since that doesn’t exist, there must be a “conspiracy.” Reality can be a bitch.

  27. Lee Muller

Karen, you don’t know if Obama has a passport, or what country issued it, if he does have one. You can’t name anyone who has seen his official certificate of live birth.

Mr. Burlingame, journalists are supposed to be skeptical, not gullible, like yourself.

Name calling me a “hater” for is a childish attempt to escape a serious question. His siblings and grandmother said Obama (not his real name) was born in Kenya. Rather than clear it up, he hired scads of lawyers to cover it up.

We heard the same excuses for Clinton on charge after charge which proved to be true. That’s why we want openness and honestly. The press doesn’t, and that is one reason thinking people don’t buy newspapers anymore.

  28. Lee Muller

The citizenship issue is only one of many serious issues ignored by the news media. His upbringing as a Marxist and a fundamentalist Muslim were poo-pooed by the media, but now we see Mr. Obama on a binge of socialist confiscations of industry, issuing edicts around Congress, and cozying up to Muslim terrorists. A lot of people are already sorry they didn’t pay attention before the election.

There are lots of serious issues of corruption here:

Obama’s corrupt business partner, Tony Rezko helping him buy a mansion next to real haters Louis Farakhan and Bill Ayers.

Obama’s 20 years in Jeremiah Wright’s Church of Hate.

Obama’s close advisors raking in $400,000,000 in bonuses by falsifying the books at FMAC and FNMA, which brought on the mortgage banking crisis in 2008.

Obama’s campaign still refusing to hand over donor names to the FEC some $200,000,000 in donations, most of it suspicious cash from Arab countries.

  29. Karen McLeod

I haven’t seen your birth certificate either, Lee, nor do I know anyone who has. Your postings certainly seem to indicate that you are no friend of this country. Meanwhile, it’s a pity that Gov. Sanford has taken himself effectually, if not physically, out of the local political arena. It would be nice if we had a govenor. We haven’t in a long while.

  30. Lee Muller

There are 6 billion other people whose birth certificates none of us have see, but they didn’t run for President, either.

I have had to present my real birth certificate several times, including when I ran for office. I didn’t hire a team of lawyers to seal all my records because, unlike Obama, I have no citizenship problems.

Unlike Obama, I am also not a “former” communist or Muslim.
Obama’s anti-American and anti-business attitudes are the problem.
His lack of citizenship is just one of the reasons for his hatred of Real America.

  31. Lee Muller

Burlingame plays the race card – anyone who criticizes or question Obama is a racist. That makes life easy for anti-intellectuals like Mr. Burlingame.

It doesn’t stick with me. I was campaigning for civil rights and registering blacks to vote back when Mr. Burlingame was reading about it in some newspaper.

  32. martin

You didn’t comment on the birth announcement at honoluluagonizer, Lee.

Burl, I searched Lee months ago and came up with the musician, too. I thought that was very strange since Lee has deluded, sorry, alluded to a for-subscription blog and talks about being a consultant for this and for that. You would think he would show up in a search if any of that were true or if that were his real name. You know Brad gives a lot of leeway to those he thinks are providing a real name. Who knows what the real story is?

  33. Lee Muller

I see the newspaper reported there were 200 people at this rally.
Another example of why people don’t trust news from newspapers.

The speakers railed about how many big shots want Governor Sanford to resign, but none of them showed up to speak. …. Hmmmmm.

  34. Burl Burlingame

No, there’s also a lady who wants me to run pictures of kitties.

Thanks for proving my point, Lee Muller. (Are you the Hawaiian guitarist or another Lee Muller?) (Or is that a real name?)

  35. Burl Burlingame

BTW, Lee Muller, you posted your comment to the image rather than to the body of the post, in case you can’t find it.

  36. Burl Burlingame

In the blog comments, Lee Muller states flatly that Obama’s parents were “foreign communists.” I thought his mother was from Kansas. Does anyone have confirmation of her fifth column status?

Curious also, Lee Muller also refers often to Obama retaining a team of lawyers to fight release of the actual birth certificate. Can anyone name a single one of these lawyers?

  37. Lee Muller

Both Barack Obama’s biological father and his adoptive father were non-Americans (foreign), and communists. Fathers. Plural. Parents. Plural.

Obama’s mother was an American communist, as were her parents.
    Her boyfriends were also communists.

Obama’s father wrote a book on implementing socialism in Kenya.

Obama’s grandfather was a Mau Mau terrorist, and spent nine years in prison for it.

Burl, if you don’t know these basic facts, you shouldn’t be trying to discuss Obama. You really shouldn’t be voting.

  38. Lee Muller

One of Obama’s identity protection attorneys is Robert F. Bauer, of the Perkins Cole firm in Washington, DC.

  39. Lee Muller

It’s funny that “martin”, like Obama, is afraid to reveal his identity, yet demands that others provide him with personal information so he can better defame them.

  40. Burl Burlingame

So, in Lee Muller’s world, two fathers equals “parents”?
Bauer is the lawyer retained by Obama for a variety of issues. He recently explained in a letter to gadfly Philip Berg that legal action may ensue if Berg persists in frivolous lawsuits.
Imagine, a lawyer threatening legal action.
A lawyer looking after the president’s best interests is not the same thing as a “team” of lawyers devoted to withholding information about a specific document.
But, good call on the “afraid to reveal his identity” note above. I know I am a real person, and Brad Warthen is a real person, but there is no proof whatsoever that Lee Muller is a real person. Until such proof is proffered, and validated by independent sources, we have to assume that “Lee Muller” is an alias used by a bitter and angry troll.

  41. Birch Barlow

Hey, Burl, I sort of wish our governor would take a cue from Mr. Yamamoto, and make himself scarce…

As long as he leaves his cell phone number this time…

BTW, the comments in this post suck. Why is it the crazy comments and not the reasoned ones that drive the conversation and get the most repsonses?

  42. Burl Burlingame

Birch Barlow is the voice of reason. The topic was not frothing about birth-certificate vaporware, but about Sanford’s competence. The debate point: If Sanford could bungle an affair this badly, how can he handle the complexities of state office?

  43. Bart

Go out of town on business for a few days and the inmates take over the asylum. The Obama birth certificate is a non-issue as far as most Americans are concerned. Even if he was born in Kenya as some think they have a legitimate reason to believe, the incontrovertible fact is that it will go no further than being one of those “Gunman on the Grassy Knoll” topics for discussion and argument among conspiracy theorists. It is also a farfetched thought that even if something were to be discovered, Obama would be removed from office. Ain’t gonna happen.

We also need to remember that John McCain’s place of birth was questioned and there was some speculation in the opposition camp that he might not have been qualified to run since he was not born on native soil.

In case anyone is interested, the only Lee Muller in the vicinity graduated in 1968 providing they are the same person. See, it’s not too difficult to find anyone if you know where to look. If you want to know more, do your own research.

I agree with Birch. What does Obama’s birth certificate have to do with Sanford?

Now that I think about it, didn’t miss the internet at all for a few days and it felt pretty good.

  44. Santee

Why doesn’t Lee Muller get his own blog, since he wants to drive the discussion in directions dictated by his personal paranoia and anger at the world rather than the topic at hand? Oh, right, no one would read it . . .

  45. Lee Muller

    Burl,
You were denying that Obama’s parents were communists. They were communists. So were his grandparents, and all his mentors and close friends. Do you see a pattern?

What all this has to do with Sanford is that Burl Burlingame knows nothing about Mark Sanford, but writes columns about the governor. Meanwhile, he is a few blocks away from one of the major sealed records which could impeach Barack Obama, and render all legislation signed by him null and void.

By the way, one of those State Department contractors involved in looking into the sealed passport records of Barack Obama was found shot to death in his car in Washington, DC on April 23, 2009. Someone thinks this is a serious issue, like the federal investigators with whom this witness was cooperating.

  46. Steve Gordy

This is getting better and better. Wonder how long it’ll be before Lee starts linking Obama to the JFK assassination?

  47. Santee

“Wonder how long it’ll be before Lee starts linking Obama to the JFK assassination?”

Why stop there? Have we adequately examined the possibility that Obama was linked to the Lincoln assassination?

  48. Lee Muller

Santee, what’s your theory on why Obama has 6 law firms fighting to hide his birth certificate, school records, name change documents, and passports?

Would you tolerate the same by President Bush? Of course you wouldn’t.

  49. Lee Muller

    Mr. Gordy,
Why doesn’t the communism of Barack Obama bother you, especially since we see him acting out his socialism on the seizure of GM and Chrysler, the banks, and now the medical care industry?

  50. Burl Burlingame

Is Obama a communist or a socialist? Make up your mind. Also, I didn’t know communism was an inherited trait. Maybe Obama’s father had him completely indoctrinated before Obama was three years old, when he abandoned the family.
    Oh, right, that’s crazy talk.
This thread is about Mark Sanford, Lee Muller or whoever you claim to be. You need to get a job and get out of your mother’s basement.

  51. Lee Muller

Communism is a form of socialism, just as fascism is, and so too is democratic socialism practiced in Sweden and France. Hard core theoretical communism says socialism is a transitional state between democratic governments and pure communism.

Obama’s indoctrination in communism continued from his communist maternal grandparents and his mother’s communist boyfriends. His latest communist mentors were Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright.

If you haven’t read Obama’s books, you should read them now to learn how badly you were duped.

It looks like we are in that transitional state right now.

  52. Burl Burlingame

So, Obama’s grandfather, a veteran of WWII who fought against fascism and who lies among the honored dead at the National Memorial Cemetery, was a Communist agent?

Obama’s grandmother, who was an officer at a bank, was also a secret Communist?

    Shame on you.

  53. Lee Muller

Shame on you for not knowing the basic facts about Barack Obama, most of which are mentioned in his books. You would have to do a bit more delving into the details of Obama’s role in the Marxist regimes of Kenya, and his maternal grandfather’s communism.

You have a lot of catching up to do. If you ever decide to take an serious interest in it, I can point you to lots of original sources. If not, you can remain a duped celebrity worshipper.

You sound like you don’t know about Hillary Clinton and Leon Panetta’s days in the Communist Party USA, or the others of that generation of Democrats who were useful idiots for the USSR.

  54. Lee Muller

You misuse the term “Communist agent”. Obama’s grandfather was most likely not an agent, because he was an open communist.

Lots of communists fought against other socialists and communists, in wars against Nazi Germany (after their treaty was broken), and in the border war with Red China. Better socialists kill each other, than us good people.

  55. Burl Burlingame

Well, that explains Gov. Sanford’s negligent incompetence that embarrasses the GOP — he’s a communist!

  56. Lee Muller

You lefties always go into your silly act when you find yourselves out of your league, in a discussion you had avoided your entire life.

  57. Burl Burlingame

You’re right, “Lee Muller” or whatever your real name is. No one is in your league.

  58. Lee Muller

If you could discuss the subjects, you would do so, instead of insulting me and everyone else here who tries to put facts on the table.

  59. Bart

I am curious about something Lee brought up. How many regulars on this blog have read Obama’s book, “Dreams from My Father”?

I have, have you? Show of hands? Comments?

  60. Burl Burlingame

I have. I guess I need to reread it to find the passages where Obama reveals he’s a racist communist terrorist Muslim. Don’t recall that part.

Since “Lee Muller” will always have the last word, I’m curious about something. “Lee Muller” states as fact — on various sites — that Obama’s family, on both sides, are “racist Communists” going back several generations.
Is that true also of the Obamas’ daughters? Have these kids already been brainwashed by the worldwide Communist conspiracy?

  61. Lee Muller

The better question is, “Where is the evidence that Barack Obama stopped being a socialist?”

Obama ran for office twice on the Socialist New Party ticket, then ran as a Democrat and was endorsed by the Socialist New Party.

It was reported on the Democratic Socialists of America website at the time. Once it came to light that so many Democrats in Congress were members of various socialist and communist organizations, they took down some of the web sites, or removed links, and changed the names of the organizations. I have been tracking them for years, saving their web pages and links.

From the October 1996 Update of the DSA ‘New Party’:
“New Party members are busy knocking on doors, hammering down lawn signs, and phoning voters to
support NP candidates this fall. Here are some of our key races…

Illinois: Three NP-members won Democratic primaries last Spring and face off against Republican
opponents on election day: Danny Davis (U.S. House), Barack Obama (State Senate) and Patricia Martin
    (Cook County Judiciary).”

Beyond the archived web page from the Socialist New Party is the recognition by the “Progressive
Populist” magazine in November 1996 that Obama was indeed an acknowledged member of the Socialist Party.

“New Party members and supported candidates won 16 of 23 races, including an at-large race for the
Little Rock, Ark., City Council, a seat on the county board for Little Rock and the school board for Prince George’s County, Md. Chicago is sending the first New Party member to Congress, as Danny
Davis, who ran as a Democrat, won an overwhelming 85% victory. New Party member Barack Obama was
uncontested for a State Senate seat from Chicago. ”

“The Chicago New Party is increasely becoming a viable political organization that can make a different in Chicago politics. It is crucial for a political organization to have a solid infrastructure and visible results in its political program. The New Party has continued to solidify this base…

the NP’s ’96 Political Program has been enormously successful with 3 of 4 endorsed candidates winning
electoral primaries. All four candidates attended the NP membership meeting on April 11th to express their gratitude. Danny Davis, winner in the 7th Congressional District, invited NPers to join his Campaign Steering Committee. Patricia Martin, who won the race for Judge in 7th Subcircuit Court,
explained that due to the NP she was able to network and get experienced advice from progressives like Davis. Barack Obama, victor in the 13th State Senate District, encouraged NPers to join in his task forces on Voter Education and Voter Registration.”

    Obama’s Communist Father
    ————————-

“All of my life, I carried a single image of my father, one that I .. tried to take as my own.” (p. 220) And what was that image? It was “the father of my dreams, the man in my mother’s stories, full of high-blown ideals ..” (p. 278) What is more, Obama tells us that, “It was into my father’s image .. that I’d packed all the attributes I sought in myself.” And also that, “I did feel that there was something to prove .. to my father” in his efforts at political organizing. (p. 230)

You can see all his agenda in…

“Problems Facing Our Socialism”, published July, 1965 in the East African Journal, by Barack H. Obama.

I’m curious, Burl, but just which question are you talking about?

The one about the Obamas’ daughters? Are you really serious?

I only ask because I’m finding this little tit-for-tat exchange mildly amusing and am considering taking bets about who gets in the last word.

I suppose it’s a matter of ennui brought about by my present circumstances that I find any of this even the slightest bit interesting or even that I feel compelled to add yet another comment to this thread.

    On second thought, never mind…

I already got in the last word the first time Burl responded to my facts with his silliness.

I don’t think Barack and Michelle Obama set a good example for their daughters, or for any other children.

Their pandering to victimhood, the undertone of racial retribution against whites and Jews, blaming “the rich” and “Wall Street”, the open talk of “taking back the wealth”, and “reparations”, is divisive and delusional.

    Mr. Burlingame,

The subject of Obama’s birth certificate has been entertaining but now, boring, n’cest pas?

So, if you really want to put an obvious end to the question, I think you are in a perfect position to do so.

You posted an image from an announcement printed in the newspaper you work for, correct? Now, considering the fact that someone had to supply the newspaper with the announcement, the source would be beneficial and may give final clearance for landing on this conspiracy theory.

Who supplied the information? The hospital or the family? If the hospital supplied the information, they had to use their in-house records, correct? If they had to use their in-house records, it stands to reason they would have and still have originals of all records relating to the birth that match other birth records in form and function, correct? i.e., the supposed differences between the birth certificate produced for Obama and the ones for others born on the same day could be easily explained away, correct?

If Obama was born at the hospital in Hawaii, there should be admission records for his mother in her married name, correct?

Has it always been the policy of the hospital to supply birth announcements to the local newspaper and if so, did they have to obtain permission from the parents to do so?

Easy, simple questions that should pose no problem for a seasoned reporter like yourself and maybe we can close the door on this issue once and for all. You have access to the archives and who knows, you might become a hero to Obama’s supporters.

I don’t particularly care for conspiracy theories because they gain traction when obvious answers are ignored by the object of the theory. Bush has been the object of one sick conspiracy theory when the tin foil hat brigade put forth the idea that he knew about and was actually involved in the 9/11 attacks. Absolute, total, delusional, sick bastards with no sense of reality buy into it and to make it worse, the sickest of them all, Rosie O’Donnell had the nerve to say it on her show.

So, please, put this to bed once and for all. For goodness sake, we have too many other problems to concern ourselves with.

Nothing but the sound of crickets chirping in Hawaii.

But maybe Burlingame is working on it, and discovering that finding the real Barack Obama is not so easy.
