Check out the ‘exclusive’ debate at the Law School tomorrow

This debate should be good, and I urge you to come. After all, yours truly will be moderating. But that’s not the only reason to come. Consider:

  • First of all, I hear it’s going to be picketed by Aaron Johnson supporters, who I hear are going to be quite creative and entertaining about it. Yes, this is the very debate that I wrote about Aaron being ticked about being excluded from. The organizers read my post, and asked me to moderate.
  • Second, there will only be four mayoral candidates participating (Azar, Benjamin, Finlay and Morrison), which is what Aaron’s supporters are ticked about. That means there will be more time devoted to the three candidates who have an actual chance of being elected, plus Joe Azar (and in Joe’s behalf I will say he’s acting more like a serious candidate than he ever did before). While I sympathize with Aaron’s complaint, I think this will be valuable to voters.
  • Third, the law students have a put a lot of good thought into the questions they’ve given me. I’ll just edit them a bit. And toward the end, I intend to ask some questions from the audience, fed to me via 3X5 cards.

So come one, come all; it should be fun and informative. It will be in the Law School Auditorium from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Try to come a little early so everybody can get settled before the starting time.

And no, I’m not charging a fee for my services on this one, even though I promised Mamanem that I wouldn’t do any more freebies, and HAVE been doing so. I just couldn’t bear the thought of overextended law students having to pass the hat to pay my standard, um, honorarium.

I need to get me an agent. A really tough, hard-hearted one, one motivated only by my financial well-being — a real mercenary. First, I started my day today talking for free to a bunch of kids at Dutch Fork high school, and now this. I’m a real sap, ain’t I? I mean, what kind of a softie do you have to be to take pity on a bunch of lawyers-to-be? Maybe it’s because I know how much debt my own daughter had when SHE got out of law school…
