Two-fisted consumption

001

This was a bit much…

Lora from ADCO and I had decided, on our way to lunch, that we’d stop at Starbucks after. But then we got more iced tea in to-go cups. But a plan’s a plan, so we carried them into Starbucks, which made me self-conscious. (Was this uncool? What would the Shop Tart have done?) But, getting into the absurdity of it (I do that — like when I reacted to the silliness of others in the room getting their pictures taken with Obama by posing for one myself), I proposed that we take our cups to a third place and order something else to drink.

But we restrained ourselves…

“What would the Shop Tart have done?”

Well, I believe she has written about the issue of Happy Meals and the like which are brought into local restaurants because “the kids won’t eat anything else.” I believe a similar issue would be if one brought a certain brand of coffee into another establishment that serves coffee *because one didn’t like the coffee made there* (Confidential to SB–I agree with your choice of coffee, but not cool, dude.) If you had purchased Starbucks before heading over to Longhorn, bad. Here, you were merely carrying the leftovers from your luncheon beverages into another store to purchase its beverage *which you could have simply bought across the street and Starbucks would have lost a sale.* You were never going to buy iced tea @ Starbucks.

I’ve done the same thing — ended up walking down the street with both tea from lunch and coffee for the afternoon, one in each hand. So you’re definitely not the first.

What Kathryn said. Also, the casual semi-takeout atmosphere at Starbucks makes this ok. Mr. Shop Tart always gets to-go whatever-he-was-drinking-at-lunch. If you bought coffee at Longhorn, then brought it to Starbucks because you preferred their atmosphere over Longhorn’s, that would be uncool.

Actually, I’m just concerned about your caffeine consumption. How do you sleep?

Actually, I AM feeling a tad edgy. But I’m about to go to the Web TV drinking beer and talking politics thing, and that will dull the edge a bit…

Are you going to need a driver?

Y’know folks (okay, me) made fun of Mayor Bob for having Harold Reaves (in full uniform) drive him around, but I’m seeing the benefits of having a driver if you are in a high-powered job [and might want to use your electronic devices to get some work done].

I want to be the Shop Tart’s driver!
