A horrorshow comparison, oh, my brothers!

That Stan Dubinsky veck, being the sort with a large gulliver, has drawn a comparison, oh, my brothers, between the rioters in England and your own Humble Narrator’s loyal droogs.

There may be a slight resemblance to one’s glazzies at first glance, but note that those grahzny bratchnies are not dressed in the heighth of fashion; they do not wear our platties of the night! Consider that before thou dost make up thy rasoodocks.

One thing is true: There aren’t enough millicents to put their rookers on them all, much less put them in the staja where they belong…

OK, I’ll stop now. I’m just sort of randomly grabbing stuff from the Nadsat dictionary.

Says Stan (Dubinsky, not Kubrick):

Those whose attention is on the London riots of 2011 might recall that Anthony Burgess and Stanley Kubrick anticipated all this 50 and 40 years ago, respectively.  Time to dig out your copy of A Clockwork Orange, and read or watch it again.

It’s available for streaming on Netflix, by the way. But the book’s better.

Speaking of horror shows did anyone watch the GOP debate last night? I didn’t see much that would upset the odds. The definitive entry of Rick Perry into the race did shake things up a bit. Plus Romney’s gaff calling corporations people may have tarnished his image a bit. Otherwise the ‘bud’ odds at this moment are little changed:

    Romney even
    Backmann 3-1
    Perry 3-1
    Huntsman 10-1
    Pawlenty 20-1
    Santorum 25-1
    Cain 30-1
    Paul 30-1
    Gingrich 50-1
    Palin 100-1

About Gingrich. Everytime he speaks he seems to be just a bit more irratating. Last night in an attempt to show some fire in the belly he attacked Chris Wallace for asking a “gotcha” question. Ok, maybe it was. But really, to attack a ‘journalist’ from a channel that gave you so much free publicity? Not classy Newt. Just answer the question without all that attitude.

On the positive side Santorum actually seemed the most sane of the bunch. At one point he even suggested compromise as a way forward, provided of course you don’t compromise your core values.

The biggest applause line came when Ron Paul suggested it’s high time to bring all our troops home. Not sure the GOP base is all that fired up about endless wars and huge military budgets. Conventional wisdom may be wrong about the GOP rank and file believing big military budgets are good.
