Pelosi: You never write, you never call, you don’t send money…

Got this followup, from Nancy Pelosi (really, from the DCCC), to the Biden fund-raising email earlier:

President Obama has emailed you.

Vice President Biden has emailed you.

And now I’ve emailed you.

We wouldn’t all be asking if it wasn’t so important.

Brad, if we’re going to withstand the barrage of attacks we’re facing from the Koch brothers and Karl Rove, we need you to step up now. We’re down to our last 24 hours before our fundraising deadline and still coming up 18,000 donations short. Can we count on you?…

I guess the mention of those Democratic Party boogeymen, the Kochs and Rove, is supposed to send shivers down the spine of the recipient, and trigger the involuntary writing of checks.

Fortunately, we independents are more complex organisms…

I think this kind of nagging email is supposed to elicit a response like the one from Cameron in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” (starting at 3:02 on this clip):

“He’ll keep calling me, he’ll keep calling me until I come over. He’ll make me feel guilty. This is uh… This is ridiculous, ok I’ll go, I’ll go, I’ll go, I’ll go, I’ll go. What – I’LL GO.”

I’m not sure what she’s carping about. According to the FEC, the Democrats have outraised the Republicans $262M to $240M in the 2013-2014 cycle.

Yes, but Democrat money comes from people who are pure of heart and noble in spirit… there are no terrible rich people donating to Democrats. We all know that all of the Republican money comes from about six billionaires.

Is it not knowing or a hidden agenda, Brad? Soros donates to Democrats, but not on the scale you suppose. The above-the-board money that gets counted isn’t the problem. The Koch money outside the few million they give to Republicans on the record is substantial. The money raised from their secretive annual meeting mostly goes to shadow groups and causes. Their funding of ALEC which is behind much of the voter ID, shortened voting hours, private school voucher pushes and the like counts for much but is hidden from the public. What issues do the Koch-funded “non-advocacy” groups push? Climate-change denier efforts. Oil producer interests. Anti-environmental stuff. Evil? Debatable. Bad public policy? I think so, and definitely aimed at furthering the Kochs’ economic interests. Name one cause promoted by Move On that lines Soros’s pockets.

Don’t call. Don’t email. You can send mail via USPS and I’ll toss that junk mail in the trash.
