And now, even the flagpole is gone

hole where the pole was

At breakfast this morning, I thought I’d give myself a treat and look down at the naked flagpole where the Confederate flag once flew, so I leaned over, looked… and the pole itself was gone.

I just saw a couple of trucks, and a messy spot that looked at a distance like a hole filled with broken chunks of concrete.

We’ve all grown used to the South Carolina that had a fetish for resisting change, or only allowing it in slow increments. But here in the New South Carolina, when we decide a thing needs doing, and it’s long overdue, we just flat go ahead and do it.

I’m enjoying this new place.

Yeah, yesterday there was but a stained concrete pad. I guess they will sod over it?

There were 6-7 BPS vehicles there, with officers in them, at 7 AM. Not usually anyone there….

They were taking out the concrete pad with heavy equipment when I came by around 8:45AM today. I think it’s all gonna be back to grass, pronto Tonto.

For some reason I am crying…tears of happiness. Didn’t realize I would be so emotional but a symbol that was an albatross around my heart is gone. It’s gone. Wow.

So effete,it’s sickening, but also a perfect example of neo racism. You had nothing to do with this,so quit patting yourself on the back

I don’t see any back-patting, but actually, Brad *did* have a lot to do with keeping the issue of the flag in the consciousness of his readers.
